Favorite Project Retrospective Questions

I’ve run hundreds of retrospectives over the years. Every single one taught me something.

Here’s what I’ve learned 👇

The best teams don’t just move fast. They pause, reflect, and get better with every sprint.

These six questions changed the way I run retrospectives forever:

1️ What went really well this sprint?
Celebrate the wins. Small or big. Momentum matters.

2️ What challenges or blockers did we face?
No blame. No finger-pointing. Just honesty.

3️ What could we do differently next time?
Innovation doesn’t come from comfort zones.

4️ Did we meet our sprint goals and deliver real value?
Effort is great, but impact is what counts.

5️ How well did we communicate and collaborate as a team?
You can have great tools, but trust is what actually ships.

6️ If we could change one thing, what would it be?
Just one. Simple. Actionable.

💡 Retrospectives aren’t meetings, they’re mirrors.

Great teams aren’t perfect; they’re self-aware.

If your team isn’t growing stronger after every sprint, try using these project retrospective question(s) to reset and improve.
