Is AI Actually Making Your Organization Better?

IIL is proud to announce that we are now a Corporate Research Partner for the Artificial Organizations Research Program’s 2026 AI Outcomes Study, led by Barry O’Reilly.

Why does this matter? Organizations have poured money into AI, but most cannot show what they got for it. MIT Project NANDA’s 2025 research reported that 95% of organizations were seeing no measurable financial return from generative AI, despite an estimated $30–40 billion in enterprise investment. Barry heard the same story firsthand from hundreds of CFOs and COOs while keynoting Gartner’s CFO conference.

Adoption is not the problem anymore. Measurement is.

Last year, this program heard from more than 5,000 executives and leaders about how they use AI, insights that helped shape Barry’s new book, Artificial Organizations. This year’s research goes further. It asks a question at the heart of everything we do at IIL: Which human behavior turns machine intelligence into better judgment, faster decisions, stronger operating models, and real business results?

For more than 35 years, IIL has helped professionals turn strategy into results. Partnering on this research is a natural fit, and we look forward to what it will teach all of us.

Here is where you come in. Get your voice in the data.

It takes a little over 10 minutes and covers decisions, experimentation, workflows, and outcomes. It is built for leaders accountable for business and team results, but directors, managers, and individual contributors across every function are welcome. You do not need to be an AI expert.
