International Project Management Day: What It Is, and Why It Matters

Published August 13, 2026

Connect, learn, and lead change with a global community of project professionals on November 5, 2026.

What is International Project Management (IPM) Day?

IPM Day is an annual global virtual event for anyone who leads, delivers, or drives change, from project managers to team leaders, professionals, and executives across every industry.  This year’s event opens on November 5, 2026, with 90 days on-demand access. Thousands of people are expected to tune in for one electric day featuring 5 live keynote speakers and access to 30+ on-demand video presentations and materials.  You will join a global community proving that project success is beyond a job; it is a mindset, a movement, and a skill set for every profession.

Our theme this year is: Purpose, Progress, and Power.

How Did IPM Day Start?

International Project Management Day (IPM Day) began with Frank P. Saladis‘ vision in 2004 and was brought to life by the IIL team, under the leadership and support by Lori Milhaven, EVP of Strategic Projects at IIL.

Twenty-two years later, that vision has grown into a global online event, with thousands of attendees, expert speakers from around the globe, and a community spanning every continent. Each year, on the first Thursday of every November, professionals come together to share ideas, learn, and turn those ideas into action.

IPM Day marks 22 years of Purpose, Progress and Power, and we’re making this year’s event our biggest yet.

When is IPM Day 2026?

IPM Day 2026 goes live on Thursday, November 5, 2026.  All sessions will be available on demand for 90 days. IPM Day is always held on the first Thursday in November.

Who is IPM Day For?

IPM Day is for more than project managers. While it began as a project management event, we know that project management skills are valuable in every role, industry, and profession. Today, IPM Day brings together professionals, new, seasoned, and everything in between.

Whether you lead teams, drive change, deliver results, or navigate competing priorities, you can find practical insights and inspiration to help you succeed. The skills at the heart of project management, leading through change, adapting under pressure, and turning ideas into results, belong to everyone.
